Song of the Day

Title: Novacane
Artist: Frank Ocean
Album: nostalgia, Ultra

[Verse 1]
I think I started somethin', I got what I wanted
Did didn't I can't feel nothin', superhuman
Even when I'm fuckin' Viagra poppin', every single record autotunin'
Zero emotion, muted emotion, pitch corrected, computed emotion
I, I blame it on the model broad with the Hollywood smile
Stripper booty and a rack like wow, Brain like Berkeley
Met her at Coachella, I went to see Jigga, she went to see Z Trip, perfect
I took a seat on the ice cold lawn, she handed me a ice blue bong, whatever
She said she wanna be a dentist really badly, she's in school payin'
For tuition doin' porn in the Valley, at least you workin'
But girl I can't feel my face, what are we smokin' anyway?
She said don't let the high go to waste, but can you taste a little taste of

[Hook]
Novocaine, baby, baby, Novocaine, baby, I want you
Fuck me good, fuck me long, fuck me numb
Love me now, when I'm gone, love me none
Love me none, love me none, numb, numb, numb, numb

[Verse 2]
Sink full of dishes pacin' in the kitchen, cocaine for breakfast, yikes
Bed full of women, flip on a tripod, little red light on shootin', I'm feelin' like
Stanley Kubrick, this is some visionary shit
Been tryna film pleasure with my eyes wide shut but it keeps on movin'
I blame it on the model broad with the Hollywood smile
Stripper booty with the rack like wow, I'll never forget ya
You put me on a feelin' I never had, never had, never had
And ever since I've been tryna get it back, you pick it up and put it back
Now I'm somethin' like the chemist on campus
But there's no drug around, quite like what I found in you
I still can't feel my face, what am I smokin' anyway?
She said don't let the high go to waste but can you taste a little taste of

Thought of the Day

There's a new Weight Watchers commercial with Charles Barkley that has him wearing all black and standing against a black background in dim lighting. Is the efficacy of Weight Watchers really so dubious that they have to use visual tricks to shed as many illusionary pounds from their spokespeople as possible? I doubt Sir Charles would look particularly slim if he were wearing white and was under sufficient lighting. I have a slogan for Weight Watchers: instead of "Lose Like a Man," how about "Advertise Like a Man" and put an honest representation of your endorsers on camera.

Title: Blue Sky
Artist: Common
Album: The Dreamer/The Believer

[Intro]
Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us (x4)
(Listen) Why you had to hide away for (x4)

[Verse 1]
Aston Martin king, Luther with dreams
The young Denzel the way I move through scenes
I’m like a preacher that once was a fiend
A story of change that came with wings
Pretty as the skyline, the sky is my eye line
Son of the most so from up high I shine
Suited in Prada, stay mellow like LaLa
Young fresh with dollars, ladies go gaga
I’m the cum laude, top of the class
Black Wall Street so my stock will never crash
Given what I ask, pure religion and cash
From the windows that open, I’m raising my glass
Day light beams, night light schemes
This is my Inception, I’m writing my dreams
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, say the Lord’s coming through

[Hook]
Oh-oooh-oh, in the sky we’ll find the light
Oh-oooh-oh, ain’t too high we’ll shine at night
Now we in the skies, blue skies
And we going higher, last night

[Verse 2]
It all started with a dream, I wanted to be Run D.M.C
The Lord put the blessing upon the MC
O to the M, dreams were spoken to him
That’s when I knew my flows would overflow to the rim
Open my eyes, yes sir this is what I’m made for
To go hard in the paint like D. Wade or
D. Rose, from the same streets that we rose
International heroes at world premo’s
Red carpet, imagine taking pictures with the President
Told him for health care, my music is the medicine
My name holds weight, I am never hesitant
Different state resident, this is hood elegance
SLS classic, pursuing my passion
Known for fashion, now I’m Oscar party crashing
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, say the Lord’s coming through

[Hook]

[Verse 3]
Silhouettes of dreams that we had huh
Even now it don’t seem so bad ma
Close my eyes to see things in front of me
I’m gone now, imagine what I’m gonna be
30 to worthy, now I’m all worldly
My broad up in Paris, looking all purrty
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, say the Lord’s coming through

[Hook]

[Outro]
I had these dreams in my head of an endless sphere
I could see it from my window
Wouldn’t take that long to get me there
Keep running 'til I can’t go
Remember the beautiful things that life could give me
Crazy how I’m the one
Could’ve been anywhere, but I’m sitting in the air
With the wolves up staring at the sun
Ohh, in the sky we’ll find the light
Ohh, ain’t too high we’ll shine at night
No we in the skies, blue skies
And we going higher, last night

Enticement

Plastic mannequins with diamond clusters
Big ballin' body snatchers
Gold laden wrists
Conglomeration of busters

Meander down Consumer Ave.
The American Dream eulogy
Blood oil, mustard gas-colored cabs
Leer at the passersby
While the inner-self dies

Santa says drink Coca-Cola
Dwindle your life savings
With the swanky high rollers
Buy more, buy more
Heed to our tantalizing lore

Just belong, just belong
Chase the hot mami
Gyrating in the rhinestone-laced thong
Care for a date with the Man?
Meditate with a few hits
From the luxury oblation bong.

Thought of the Day

There's a new State Farm commercial featuring LeBron James that encourages young people to stay in school. Why would you choose LeBron James to be the spokesperson for advocating education? If you wanted to use an athlete, wouldn't you choose one who went to college, and better yet graduated? Seems like you're sending kids a mixed message using someone who cruised through high school knowing he had a multi-million dollar sports career ahead of him.

Song of the Day

Title: The Chanukah Song
Artist: Adam Sandler
Album: What the Hell Happened to Me?

Put on your yarmulke
Here comes Chanukah
So much funukah
To celebrate Chanukah
Chanukah is the festival of lights
Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights

When you feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree
Here's a list of people who are Jewish just like you and me
David Lee Roth lights the menorah
So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah

Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli
Bowser from Sha Na Na and Arthur Fonzerelli
Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too
Put them together, what a fine lookin' Jew
You don't need "Deck The Halls" or "Jingle Bell Rock"
'Cause you can spin a dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock- both Jewish

Put on your yarmulke
It's time for Chanukah
The owner of the Seattle Supersonicahs
Celebrates Chanukah

O.J. Simpson, not a Jew
But guess who is? Hall of famer Rod Carew- he converted
We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby
Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish- not too shabby

Some people think that Ebenezer Scrooge is
Well he's not, but guess who is
All three Stooges
So many Jews are in showbiz
Tom Cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is

Tell your friend Veronica
It's time to celebrate Chanukah
I hope I get a harmonicah
Oh this lovely, lovely Chanukah
So drink your gin and tonicah
And smoke your marijuanikah
If you really, really wannakah
Have a happy, happy, happy, happy Chanukah
Happy Chanukah

Title: Shake It Out
Artist: Florence+The Machine
Album: Ceremonials

Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn

And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around
And our love is pastured such a mournful sound
Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues drawn
But it's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back so shake him off

And given half the chance would I take any of it back
It's a fine romance but its left me so undone
It's always darkest before the dawn

Oh woah, oh woah

And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat
Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

Oooh oooh oooh oooh [repeat until fade]

Thought of the Day

Why is it that grown men enjoy fantasy football so much? It's just a game of random luck involving a board full of numbers you have no control over. Not to mention it doesn't take into account crucial aspects of football that can't be quantified. Like the fact a lockdown cornerback can dominate a game without recording a single statistic simply by keeping his receiver from getting open. Or a mobile quarterback can handicap the opposing defense by forcing them to use a linebacker or safety as a "spy" to keep him from breaking out big runs, thus leaving the defense one man short in pass coverage. I don't see the appeal of these leagues, especially considering NFL football is lackluster enough in its real form.

Thought of the Day

I don't understand why anyone would want fish for pets. They have a memory span of only a few months, generally fear humans, and if they don't die from shock on the way from the pet store to your house, then they only live for a few years anyway. They also apparently release harmful chemicals through their gills which can kill them if the toxins accumulate to a certain level in their tank. Basically, a fish either faces the potential danger of predators and earthworms attached to a metal hook in the wild, or their own self-defeating biology in captivity. What a stupid animal.

You're album couldn't fuck with one line,
It's been three years since you last hear,
But now I reappear your heart pumps fear,
To your gut,
Did your girl's butt,
I scraped it...shaped it...now she won't strut,
I smash teeth,
Fuck your beef,
No relief,
I step on stage girls scream like I'm Keith,
You won't be around next year,
My rap's too severe,
Kicking mad flava in ya ear,

[Chorus]

[Rampage]
Twenty one...Ninety Four,
Mad muthafuckin' hardcore,
It's my turn to burn now explore,
The flava in ya ear it's the boyscout,
I make outs,
I make other rappers have doubts,
[That's right]
You're fucking with the wrong clan and the wrong man that's it,
Now you got to get your dome split,
I'm going into my knapsack with my gat,
Take off my hat,
Yes I'm just cool like that,
The dangerous,
The ruggedness,
From the Flatbush abyss,
BLS...97...KISS bounce to this,
I wanna live long in this rap game,
Niggas know my name,
Yo Puffy...
[Burn 'em in the flames]

[You're jingling baby]

The most safest behavior is to stay in the clear,
It's all for you...It's really all for you,
{Now what?}
Punch back,
Close your eyes try to munch that,
Oil up your ankles let your Tims tap,
Bite the flava it reacts to your gold caps,
Word to mama,
I tongue kiss a pirhana,
Electrocute a barracuda...I'm here to bring the drama

[Busta Rhymes]
YO!...YO! The flavas in your ass crease ha!,

We're
'Bout to rip the Tri-State,
Ay yo! Hey...HEEEEEEYYYYYYY..Hey!
I'll split your face and give you stitches,
Throw niggas in ditches,
Smack the ass on fat bitches,
Wait one sec,
I'm coming down and rolling with the heavyweight connect to the stomping
Ground,
Now...don't you get suspicious,
Grant your wishes everytime,
Breaking dishes when I bust a rhyme,
I know one thing the whole world least expected,
Was how we all connected to break fool on the same record,
Five new flavas on beat...feel the fuckin' heat,
I really think you should retreat while we blow up the street,
Instead of copping pleas just freeze,
Maintain the focus while we smoke these marijuana trees,
Break it down and disappear...reappear and blow up everywhere,
Fuckin' flava's in your ear,

[Chorus]

Thought of the Day

You know those Bod deodorant spray commercials with all the fit, sweaty male models doing jock stuff? What angle was the marketing department at Bod going for? They clearly seem to be trying to appeal to women when it's a product for men. It makes no sense at all unless they're hoping gay men would be interested in wearing their douchey fragrance.

Title: Fields of Gold
Artist: Sting
Album: Ten Summoner's Tales

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in fields of gold

So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold

I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
